How familiar are you with the name of Jesus? I'm certain there are many people who are familiar with using the name of Jesus when they are angry but how many of us cry out the name of Jesus as a plea on a regular basis?
The Bible says that there is power in the name of Jesus (John 14:13), that all authority has been given to him (John 17:1-2), and that he is seated at the right hand of God (Heb. 1:3), which is symbolic of authority. When we are in need we are to go to him (John 14:13-14).
I am very familiar with stories about crying out the name of Jesus and miracles happening. My own mother tells of the time she was on icy roads and someone in front of her started slipping on ice. She had just heard the story of a man who had gotten his tie caught in an engine that was quickly going to kill him, or at least mame him, who cried out the name of Jesus and was thrown, against the laws of physics, from the truck. Since the story was fresh in her mind, my mother cried out to Jesus. Eight cars skidded and spun around on the highway and came to a stop without touching one another, even though they were practically on top of each other when they hit the ice.
I need to take more time to get familiar with crying out the name of Jesus so that I just naturally go to him in times of urgent need.
