During this week of recognizing police officers for the many ways that they make our lives better, I'd like to share a short true story. The year of 9/11 my father was not feeling well; as the fall progressed he got worse until one day we were certain he had to go to the hospital. Unfortunately he was in Minneapolis alone, while mom and I were in Florida, visiting my sister and her family.
My brother-in-law took it upon himself and called 911. They dispatched a police officer and to our home. When dad answered the door he was comforted to find that the police officer who was first on the scene was a young man that dad had taken to church as a youth. While they waited for the ambulance, they were able to talk about old times. That police officer helped dad be okay in the situation that was anything but okay. Thank you!
